I am Hemanth Kumar, 20 something from India. I used to work for a company which has changed its name, its logo, its people…basically everything which defined it. Consequently, people sitting at the top of the ladder thought that it’s useless to pay wages to people like me, so they sent people like me on a sabbatical. The exodus towards a new life has been one of the most enriching experience I could have ever asked for. And for that I will always have great regard to the BigMan for what he did. He did what he had to, but in doing so, he taught me that ‘hope‘ is a good thing. I now write (including movie reviews) for a popular website in Hyderabad and in a way, I am living a dream. And all I can wish for is that this dream shouldn’t have an end…seamlessly transcending dream after dream.
Over the past two decades, I can say I have done fair amount of travelling across India. Born in Andhra Pradesh, I must have lived in around 9 different towns and cities over a period of 23 years. Thanks to my dad’s job, I got an opportunity to travel to quite a few places. I think I have been sort of lucky to learn a lot from different cultures in India and I didn’t realise it how much it had helped me till I went to college. I graduated from BITS-Pilani, in May, 2007 with a B.E(Hons) Mechanical Engineering. The irony is, I am perhaps the most anti-mechanical Mechanical Engineer ever! I realised too soon that I cannot understand machines (you can’t blame me, machines never gave me a chance!). My inability to handle simple instruments like a Tachometer and freaking out everytime I hear a roar in the Pump and Turbines lab stand as a testimony to this…:D. But college helped me in a lot many ways. As I try to connect the dots of my life backwards, I can see that everything I am and what I think is because of my life in college. Apart from watching my own life closely, I had the chance to meet people from different regions, cultures and ambitions. The trio of these perspectives added with how I saw life evolve in those 4 years helped me realise one thing…that Life Goes On.
Cinema has had a huge influence on me, and now, it’s my passion, interest, hobby. It keeps me sane, and more than anything else, it makes me more humane. To know what’s my perspective of Cinema and how much I love movies, click here. Writing also has a special place in my day-to-day life. I have been writing for the past 8 years, starting with poetry in High-School and then to short stories. Finally in college, my interest in movies, led me to blog a lot about movies as well…to read more on what I write…click here.
As I continue to explore the endless possibilities of life, I realise I am nothing if I don’t interact with you. Communicating is probably what we do all the time, and I would love to know what you do, about your culture, the differences and similarities between you and me. Although I haven’t travelled much, I still love the concept of travelling, because it helps in bringing people closer and exchange of ideas and everything else which one wants to share. No matter what part of world we are in, we continue to believe that whatever we do, we can only march ahead. Live On.
